Our association "Brass Promotion asbl" will organize in November 2015, the second International Trumpet Competition attached to the name of a Belgian trumpeter who left his mark on a century of music in Belgium: Theo Charlier.
The event that wants to be high level, both by the jury members who agreed to be present, as by the prizes to be awarded to the winners in order to attract high quality candidates, will take place at the Abbey Musical Malonne (Namur) from 1 to 6 of November 2015.
This contest will be part of the means to be implemented to ensure the influence of the music for "brass". Members of brass bands and musical groups (formed primarily by a lot of wind instruments) involved in the animation and the cultural life of our towns and cities in Belgium feel a bit neglected. Indeed, without wanting to compare our young competition project to the existing level of competition in Belgium, violinists, pianists and singers regularly found behind the participants of the venerable Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, just as in recent years the saxophonists are found at the Sax Competition in Dinant. Highlighting Belgian participants in this kind of events can only be beneficial to motivate young people to pursue learning these disciplines with all the return it can have in terms of musical societies and orchestras.
